Day Twenty - ms Veendam - At Sea - Enroute to Scotland Thursday 31 July 2014

Awake at 5:15 am -- didn't get up till 6:00 am for my two miles on Deck Six.  After breakfast we sorted laundry -- yes we finally have to "do a wash" -- we are both out of clean clothes.    Everything is being used at 8:00 am so Phil agrees to check during the day to see what he finds.

I attended the 10:00 am briefing on tours available in the upcoming Scottish  ports -- Invergordon and Lerwick.    The safe in our room went on the fritz this morning -- I called and waited for 30 minutes -- nobody came.  So -- I loaded up a bag with all of our "valuables" and am carrying them around with me till the safe gets fixed.

The other thing going on today is Scottish Immigration.  Two Scottish Immigration Officers boarded the ship in Amsterdam -- so they could spend today checking everyone's passport in person.   We have all been given -- based on cabin number -- a time but that time is confirmed with an announcement.    So far they are way ahead of schedule.   We were scheduled for 11:45 am -- but just got bumped ahead almost an hour earlier.   All the Officer did was look at my passport and stamp it.

We had lunch at 11:30 am -- and then did the laundry -- worked out great -- nice to have that done -

I also went to Barbara's location talk for the upcoming ports  -- picked up a few tips and she did mention that both ports have "charity shops" on their high street -- that perked me up.    I spent the rest of the afternoon downloading Amsterdam photos.

Phil on Formal Night at Our Table.

Pat on Formal Night at our Table.
At dinner this evening --- one of the "suits" who walks around asking guests how everything is -- asked us if we'd like to have dinner at the Hotel Manager's table tomorrow evening -- we said sure.

After about 20 mintues in the Crow's Nest -- we couldn't stay awake any longer -- so it's off to bed.

A good day at Sea -- and yes the safe did get fixed.

Thanks for Reading!

Pat

  1. Shipboard life seems to agree with you. Walking every morning, doing laundry and otherwise making good use of your days at sea. I'm guessing you're adhering to a vegetarian diet, with ease. And it appears you have a decent wifi signal aboard the ship if you are downloading photos; unless you are downloading from camera to laptop, rather than uploading from laptop to blogspot. Regardless, you're getting a lot done!
